READY, SET, GO!

After months of behind the scenes planning, we’re thrilled to finally pull the curtain back and announce the lineup of films for our inaugural Women Sports Film Festival.  Our carefully curated program includes nine feature length documentaries and a collection of eight short films featuring athletes from four continents participating in eleven different sports.

We’ll kick the festivities off  with our opening night film, T-Rex: Her Fight for Gold on Thursday, July 28 at 6:30 pm. Co-presented by Independent Lens, KQED and the San Francisco Film Society, this is a free community screening and open to all. On Friday night, July 29, we take a look back at the trailblazing journey of legendary tennis player, Althea Gibson in the award-winning film, Althea.  Saturday, July 30,  features a full day of films and post-screening discussions with film subjects and filmmakers, live and via Skype.  We’ll wrap up the festival with our closing night film, Keepers of the Game and celebrate afterwards at our closing night party.  All the films will be screened at our festival venue, The New Parkway Theater in Oakland.

We look forward to seeing you at the festival. To reserve your seat for our opening night film, T-Rex, or to purchase tickets to any of the festival films, click here.
